SmartCo was entrusted with leading the Hammer Program, a pivotal £6 billion divestiture of Alliance Healthcare from Walgreens Boots Alliance (WBA). This high-stakes initiative required SmartCo’s exceptional expertise to oversee a complex, multi-faceted separation across several key business areas, ensuring smooth transitions and uninterrupted operations.

SmartCo’s Approach​

SmartCo led the technical execution and migration support with a meticulously structured project plan. Key workstreams included:

  • Office 365 Migration and Data Separation
  • Data Center Migration from Chessington to Beeston
  • Physical Site and Network Separation
  • Systems Integration between WBA and Cencora

SmartCo collaborated with third-party partners (TCS, BT, WBA) while maintaining strong governance through daily stand-ups, weekly updates, and sentiment checks. The team quickly adapted to changes, such as adjusting the Nottingham landing platform, with extensive risk-mitigating testing, ensuring seamless execution throughout the program.
