SmartCo and British Youth Speedway Championship celebrate successful 2026 season partnership

September – 2026. SmartCo believe in backing people with potential. That’s why we were proud to have supported the British Youth Speedway Championship throughout the 2026 season, helping young riders from across the UK compete, develop and pursue their ambitions in one of the country’s most exciting motorsports. The partnership supported a championship involving young riders aged between 8 and 17, competing across six events held around the UK

When we learned more about the Championship, what really stood out was the commitment behind it. Families spend hours on the road and invest significant time and money travelling across the UK and Europe so that young riders can follow their passion. Not every family is in a position to absorb those costs, which is why support from sponsors matters. It helps ensure more young people have the chance to compete, develop and be part of the sport, regardless of their financial circumstances. The 2026 season saw riders compete at venues including Glasgow, Leicester, Middlesbrough, Workington and Manchester, with the championship overcoming the challenges that inevitably come with grassroots sport, from weather disruptions to unfortunate injuries. Despite this, the season delivered unforgettable moments, crowned three British champions and provided opportunities for dozens of young riders to develop their skills and confidence.

Creating opportunities for young people

For many families, participating in speedway represents a significant financial commitment. From tyres and equipment to travel costs across the UK and Europe, the expenses can quickly add up.

Neil Vatcher Speedway, Great Britain Under 21 and Youth Team Manager told us:

Speedway is expensive for families. Sponsorship helps us contribute towards travel costs, equipment and essentials like tyres. We can’t cover every cost, but every bit of support helps young riders continue competing and gives opportunities to children who might otherwise struggle to take part.

For SmartCo, this partnership was about more than putting our name behind an event. It was about supporting an organisation that shares our belief in developing people, creating opportunities and helping the next generation achieve their potential.

Oli Kane, Managing Director at SmartCo, said:

I believe businesses have a role to play beyond the work they deliver. It’s a view shared by SmartCo, which is why we are passionate about creating opportunities for young people, whether that’s through internships or supporting initiatives like the British Youth Speedway Championship.
Being young today isn’t easy. There are more pressures, more uncertainty and more distractions than ever. Having the chance to be part of a community, develop confidence, learn new skills and pursue something you’re passionate about can make a real difference.

Managing Director at SmartCo

As the 2026 season comes to a close, we’d like to congratulate everyone involved, from the riders and their families to the volunteers who dedicate countless hours to making the championship possible.
